Centurian Solutions LLP ("we", "our", or "us") operates the BiteSaver mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
- Display name — shown within the app
- Authentication provider — whether you signed in with Email, Google, or Apple
If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive only the information you authorize those services to share (typically your name and email).
User-Generated Data
We store data you voluntarily enter into the app:
- Grocery inventory items (names, categories, quantities, expiry dates, prices)
- Shopping list items
- Waste log entries
- Store names
Device Permissions
- Camera — used solely for barcode scanning and receipt scanning. Images are processed on-device and are not stored or transmitted.
- Notifications — used to send you expiry date reminders. You can disable these at any time in your device settings.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to collect anonymous usage data that helps us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. This includes:
- General app usage patterns (e.g., which features are used most often)
- Aggregate event counts (e.g., number of items added, recipes generated)
- App performance and stability data
This data is anonymous and not linked to your identity. We do not track individual behavior or create user profiles. No advertising identifiers (IDFA) are collected. You cannot be personally identified from this data.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Location data
- Contacts
- Photos or media (camera is used only for real-time scanning)
- Device identifiers for advertising
- Personal browsing or search history
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used exclusively to:
- Provide and maintain the BiteSaver app functionality
- Authenticate your account
- Sync your data across your devices
- Send expiry date reminder notifications (with your permission)
- Enable password reset via email
- Generate recipe suggestions based on your inventory (item names and categories are sent to Google's AI service; no personal information is included)
- Improve the app through anonymous usage analytics
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase (Firestore and Firebase Authentication), hosted on Google Cloud infrastructure. Data is:
- Encrypted in transit (TLS/SSL)
- Encrypted at rest on Firebase servers
- Accessible only to your authenticated account via security rules that restrict access to your user ID
4. Third-Party Services
BiteSaver uses the following third-party services:

5. Data Retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. The app automatically cleans up expired or consumed grocery items and waste log entries that are older than one year.
You can delete individual items at any time within the app. You may also delete your entire account and all associated data from the Profile section of the app.
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — all your data is visible within the app
- Delete your data — you can delete individual items within the app, or delete your entire account and all associated data from the Profile section
- Export your data — contact us to request a copy of your data
- Withdraw consent — you can revoke notification permissions or sign-in access at any time
7. Children's Privacy
BiteSaver is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
